Peggy Ridgway, a graduate of Terre Haute North High School and Indiana State University, has served SWSC for 19 years at Carlisle Elementary and Middle School, teaching third grade, fourth grade, middle school social studies, and middle school language arts.

What she enjoys about teaching:

“I love being around the children. They make me laugh every day!” explained Mrs. Ridgway. “I feel lucky to be able to spend time with so many young people.  They energize me!”

Favorite teaching moments:

“In my opinion, my greatest teaching accomplishment is preparing my 8th graders for high school,” said Mrs. Ridgway. “Assigning classic novels is one of my favorite assignments. I love seeing their light bulbs come on when they understand the social implication in the book or grasping a difficult concept.”

She continued, “My favorite moments have been when former students thank me for making them write research papers and essays—which they hated to do during my class!”

How she spends her time when she is not teaching:

“When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, and golfing with friends,” she said.  “I love spending time with my grandchildren and watching them play sports, or hanging out with them around my pool.”
