Carlisle Receives Big Ten Grant

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Carlisle Elementary teacher Jennifer Simpson and school librarian Erin Cooper, CES has been awarded a $7,000 Big Ten Educational Initiative grant, which will be used to purchase non-fiction books, STEM materials and a Lego wall for the CEMS library.

As recipients of the grant, Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Cooper were special guests at Sunday’s Big 10 football championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium and were recognized on the field.

“When I got the call that we’d been chosen, I was so excited!” said Mrs. Simpson. “It’s so amazing to see that there are organizations out there that are willing to support the education of our kids. We’re such a small school, but our voice, our need, was still heard. It’s so exciting.”

She added, “So many of our kids are limited to our little corner of the world. Without books they’d never learn about far off places, different cultures, or the big world that’s out there just waiting for them…I can’t wait to see their eyes light up when they see BOXES of new books, just for them.”
