College Visits

In order to encourage students to dream about postsecondary education, it’s vital for students to be able to see themselves as college students. College campus visits are one way to encourage them to start thinking about where they want to go in the future.

On-campus experiences have been shown to increase both college aspirations and knowledge.

Carlisle Middle School students have had an opportunity to take college visits during the 2018-2019 school year.

6th, 7th, and 8th grade students visited Ivy Tech in Terre Haute for their 5th/6th grade day and 7th/8th grade day.  See more information here.  Students were exposed to variety of different departments at Ivy Tech, including nursing, mechanics, agriculture, IT, and education.

8th grade students spent a day on campus at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.  8th graders saw an admissions presentation, took a tour of campus, sat in a lecture hall, saw the recreation center, and got to eat lunch in the ISU commons area.

In May, 7th and 8th grade students will visit Vincennes University in Vincennes.  Students will have the opportunity to see an admissions presentation, take a campus tour, and see individual departments.
