SCHOOL NEWS:

SPORTS BANQUET

Our annual sports banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at 6:30pm in the gym.  We will be honoring all of our athletes for the following sports:  cross country, golf, soccer, volleyball, football, wrestling, boys and girls basketball, dance, and cheer.  There will be a dinner before the awards presentation.  Please bring a covered dish.  We will provide ham, rolls, cake, drinks, and table service (plates and silverware).

SPORTS PHYSICALS

Sports physicals will be offered for $10 on Friday, April 17th.   Forms will be sent home at a later date.  Checks should be made payable to Sullivan Family Practice.  We cannot emphasize enough how our students SHOULD get this done at school!  Many times our students cannot practice when the sports season starts because they do not have a physical on file.  This will eliminate the hassle of rushing to get one completed.  DO IT NOW and HAVE IT DONE for the next school year!!  It’s cheap and easy.

ATTENDANCE – what to do when your child is absent

For your child’s absence to be excused, you must phone in first thing in the morning to the school office 812-398-3851 or email cking@swest.k12.in.us.  Also, send in a doctor’s excuse upon return (if they went to a doctor, dentist, etc.).  Emailing your teacher is fine as a courtesy to the teacher but the office needs to be called so they can be excused.

STEM CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GIRLS SPONSORED BY PACE COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, INC.

Pace Community Action Agency, Inc, is once again empowering women for the workforce by providing a limited number of scholarships for girls to attend STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) camps.  There are a variety of camps in our area that provide hands-on technology activities for youth.  Pace is seeking to lower the wage disparity between males and females by promoting the STEM field to young women.  Scholarships are Pace’s way of making sure that financial issues do not stop females from attending STEM camps.  Interested individuals should identify a camp of interest and compete the application on our website at www.pacecaa.org. Apply as soon as possible, only a limited number of scholarships exist.  Financial reimbursement may include the cost of the camp and mileage to and from the camp.  Individuals will be notified if they are accepted.  Questions – contact Tai Blythe 812-882-7927 or tblythe@pacecaa.org.   Note:  the camps are listed on the Pace website.
