The school along with the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is collecting pop tabs for Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.  Each pop tab offers one minute of dialysis to a child.  Please save your pop tabs and send in with your student.  WVCF will be picking them up every Friday.  Let’s all work together to help children in need.

Halloween Parade/Parties:

Due to Covid restrictions , parents will not be able to attend Halloween parties this year or send treats, so we are requesting that parents donate $5 to their student’s homeroom class.  Each teacher will plan and buy for the party refreshments, games, and goodie bags.  We will still have our annual Halloween parade, however when choosing a costume, remember that Covid restrictions will prevent parents from coming in to dress and apply makeup.  Your child needs to be able to dress with minimal assistance.  We will have the parade outside, weather permitting, at 2:30pm.  Parents are welcome to come watch the parade alongside the school grounds with social distancing in place.

Book Fair:  The book fair will be set up in the library Nov 2-6th.  Due to Covid restrictions, parents will not be allowed to take their child to the book fair.  You can send money in with your child or you can do the eWallet option online and put money in an account for them to spend if you prefer.  Mrs. Cooper will be sending more information home later this week.

FCA:   meets on Friday’s after school until 3:45pm with Mr. Phillips.

ATTENDANCE – what to do when your child is absent

For your child’s absence to be excused, you must phone in first thing in the morning to the school office 812-398-3851 or email cking@swest.k12.in.us.  Also, send in a doctor’s excuse upon return (if they went to a doctor, dentist, etc.).  Emailing your teacher is fine as a courtesy to the teacher but the office needs to be called so they can be excused.

Dance teams will have practice on Fridays from 3-4:30pm.

Please remember:  Students are not to stay in the building after school for any reason unless supervised by a coach or designated adult.  For home games, no athlete should be at school before 5pm.

Athletes MUST wear a mask on the bus while traveling to opposing school.

SPIRIT WEAR order forms went home with students.  We will take orders until Friday, October 30th.  The spirit wear will be back in time for Christmas if you want to purchase it as a gift.

PTO is selling birthday grams.  There are 3 varieties you can choose from.

  1. $1 gram = dum dum sucker and card

  2. $5 gram = balloon, card and choice of M&M’s, Skittles, or KitKat

  3. $20 party = hostess cakes and juice boxes for class, and bday gram, balloon, and choice of candy for student.

The PTO requires a week’s notice.  They are not in the building every day and they will need to make sure they have what is needed.

PTO collects:

Box Tops for Education...We earn 10 cents for each Box Top that is redeemed.  The old Box Top program required us to clip and submit each pink label.  While you can still find a random Box Top, they have converted to an app.  All you do is scan your receipts and the Box Tops are donated directly to Carlisle School.  Look for the Box Top for Education and download today.

Prairie Farms Caps...Each cap redeemed is worth $0.05.  Please save the caps and we will redeem the codes. Or you can submit your own codes at prairiefarms.com and donate directly to CEMS.

Coke Rewards...Each reward from a bottle cap is worth $0.05 and each reward from the cardboard case of Coke products is worth $0.15.  We are not collecting the plastic caps. We are collecting the reward points from the cardboard cases and under the caps.  Again, save them for us to enter or donate directly to Carlisle, thru the Coke Rewards app!
